XV - 30 Minute Layover Mixtape

Vizzy has finally dropped the prelude to The Vizzy Zone which should be out this Spring from what I have heard. XV was not included in this year's XXL Freshmen Top 10 and the internets are fired up about this since most felt he should of replaced this years Ace Hood also known as OJ Da Juiceman. Well it's not like that list is fact anyways it is just their poor opinion on hip hop today.
Well on to what we are here for the music.

Copywrite - Agent O Freestyle

Copy decided after all these years to bring back a classic Cage beat. This is in support of his new E.P. Ultrasound: The Rebirth and The life and times of Peter Nelson due out in June. Definitely has that throwback sound from the late nineties.

Freddie Gibbs: A 2Dope Free EP

Brought to us by the good folks over at 2dopeboyz is an ep worth material from Gary, IN very own Freddie Gibbs. Featuring 5 songs and new artwork by Shake.

I’ll admit, I was sleeping a little bit on Freddie Gibbs, and was somewhat surprised at how quickly his name has garnered buzz around these here parts. But it was the cut he did with Pill, “Run Up To Me,” which finally caught my attention. After his guest appearance on (2)Dope Radio this past weekend, Freddie and Co. was gracious to let me see and listen to a few things he has coming up (including a track with Phonte), and also threw me a few DJ-free tracks, as well as a previously unreleased track Freddie had forgotten he’d even done. I’ve compiled these tracks into an EP for the masses. This way I’m hoping nobody else is caught sleeping the way I was.

B. Dolan – Fifty Ways to Bleed Your Customer

Never really heard of this guy before last night and almost forgot to put this up. He is on Strange Famous Records and this is first single off sophomore album. Dropping in March.

Strange Famous consigliare B. Dolan returns with his sophomore lp, “Fallen House, Sunken City” produced entirely by ALIAS. Having already established himself as a master storyteller, this time Dolan presents us with a full-throttle, unabashed, boombap hiphop record. Joined by legendary beatsmith Alias behind the production board, B. Dolan’s aggressive delivery is accentuated by a special brand of bass-heavy breakbeats, while the tailor made musical backdrops assist in the mood of impending doom. Guest appearances by P.O.S., Cadence Weapon, Providence’s “What Cheer?” Brigade, and Buddy Peace round out the tracklist, as SFR and B. Dolan set the decade off with a demolition charge.

Video of the Day: Freddie Gibbs & Mikkey Halsted - On My Own

Some new music and visuals from Gary's own Freddie Gibbs and Chicago's own Mikkey Halsted.

A N2ition & FSD Production, produced by Maja 7th. Andrew explains:

I know I’ve been talking about this record for a while, and now we’re finally ready to unleash the visual to the world. This is the first official release from the Maja 7th & FSD release, The Breakout, which is due out in February.

Shot and edited by Brandon “N2ition” Riley, we filmed this video in Chicago and Gary, IN, to highlight the vivid imagery within these two cities, which are only a hop, skip and a jump away from eachother. This clip really brought these two cities to life.

Lyriciss – The Practice (Mixtape)

Something new and fresh from the DMV area.

As far as hip-hop goes the DMV (DC/Maryland/Virginia) is still unmarked territory. Sure, there’s success in the frontrunner (Wale), not to mention a bright future for others (Tabi Bonney, Phil Adé), but there are many more voices from hip-hop’s unheard region. One of them is EQuinox Professionals/Inner Loop Records artist Lyriciss.

The Practice is Lyriciss’s fourth official mixtape, the follow-up to last year’s The Day Job. While the latter had strength in concepts and experimentation in flow, the focal point of The Practice lies within the lyrics.

Former XM Radio show host and DMV-area native DJ Furious Styles handles the mixing and guest contributions include Fashawn, K-Beta, Kingpen Slim, Muggsy Malone, RAtheMC, Theo Martins.

Emilio Sparks – Hello f. ESSO & Rhya (Video)

Off of the recently released Emilio Sparks mixtape Kicks,Chicks, & Porno Flicks is the visuals for the Esso helmed track Hello. Dope as hell.

Over the course of 3 days, the “Hello” video was created using still photographs and video footage throughout various locations around New York. Focal points include Harlem, Union Square and the New York City Subway system. This project reflects the creative vision of Mike Shane (Director), Don Arangio (Producer), and Rebecca Bolde (Animator & Editor).

9th Wonder & Laws – Shining

I found this looking around this morning and it seems like something new and fresh from The Justice League and Don Cannon who both always provide something unique in the way of music.
Here is a video of some time in the studio.

Justice League's artist, Laws meets up with 9th Wonder to put the finishing touches on “Shining”, a track off of his up and coming mix-tape hosted by Don Cannon titled 4:57pm.

Cole, taken off the upcoming Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek’s Revolutions Per Minute album which is due out in February 2010.This came out right around Christmas but with the album only couple weeks away I figured I would share this with you if you haven't heard it yet.

Video Of The Day - Rhymefest - Exodus 5.1

New Visuals from El Che . Off of his mixtape Chicagorilla Ape Vol. 1 Which I dont believe actually dropped ever last year. Either way this is one of those unreleased songs he performs at most shows. "EL Che" Coming this Spring.

Furious Styles & DJ Dub Present: Jay Electronica – Victory (Mixtape)

I have been gone awhile just busy with work and all the other B.S. that life throws at us, so with that said I have something that has been out for couple weeks but is refreshing none the less. Jay Electronica is a guy who wasn't really on my map til right around the time I stopped putting up post. In my time off I have become very familiar with him and understand what all the hype is about. He is a lyrical beast coming at you from all directions which is great and on top of it he has some of the best beat selections in awhile. Well enough of the hype listen for yourself and you decide.

Peace,

Wade

“In the current state of music, an artist like Jay (Electronica) deserves the attention of anyone who even THINKS they like Hip-Hop. We’re not saying that he’s the savior but he’s been working on the humble for years and Exhibit C opened him up to the world. World, meet Jay Electronica…support his victory for Hip-Hop.” – DJ DUB

“I truly believe that everyman has a story and Jay Electronica’s story is definitely the current soundtrack to Hip-Hop. He makes the impossible seem possible. Dub and I wanted to share his soundtrack with those that were unfamiliar. Let’s welcome back the lyricists to Hip- Hop.” – DJ FURIOUS STYLES.
